Wall Family, Ballymacmague
Wall Family outside their cottage, Ballymacmague. 2nd from left: Cornelius Wall b. 1812 - d. 1908, son of David Wall (boot-maker) and Catherine Kenny. Cornelius was born in Blackpool, Dungarvan but went to Liverpool 1849 aged 34/35 to take up a post with H.M. Customs, retiring c.1882. Far right, seated: Catherine Wall (nee O'Carroll) (born. c. 1850 - d. 1907), daughter of a master mariner from Dungarvan, whom Cornelius (who had been widowed in 1871) married c.1873 in Liverpool. Cornelius retired, with a pension, aged 70, c. 1882 and returned to Ireland to live at the cottage in the background at Ballymacmaigue, near Dungarvan. Far left: Catherine Wall, (1876 - 1942) (daughter of Cornelius) who later married Thomas Lennon, uncle of George Lennon (O.C. Waterford Flying Squad, I. R. A.) and brother of the owner of The Gasworks. 2nd from right: John Wall (1874 - 1931) son of Cornelius. The children later emigrated to Philadelphia, USA.
