Patricia Chearnley, Miss Sheila Leschallas 20, Mrs Isa Wingfield and son Mervyn Wingfield 21.The Garden at “The Deeps”, Wexford”
L to R Patricia Chearnley Miss Sheila Leschallas, 20, Mrs Isa Wingfield (widow of Rev Col W E Wingfield), and her son Mervyn Wingfield, 21, who was on leave from the Royal Navy. Sheila and Mervyn were married four years later, in 1936.
According to a viewer "I have the same photo in an album here, inherited from my father Captain Mervyn Wingfield. His caption does not name the lady on the left, who may well be Patricia Chearnley (as your caption, apparently provided by a member of the Chearnley family, says). My father’s caption is “In the garden at “The Deeps”, Wexford”, rather than at Salterbridge, though I suppose he could have been mistaken. There is no doubt who the other three people are. From left to right, my mother Miss Sheila Leschallas, 20, Mrs Isa Wingfield (widow of Rev Col W E Wingfield), and her son Mervyn Wingfield, 21, who was on leave from the Royal Navy. Sheila and Mervyn were married four years later, in 1936 and I was born in 1942.I think they were probably picking strawberries rather than playing tennis. I have no information to offer on the dog!"
