The Susan Vittery Ship Moored At Dungarvan Quay

The Susan Vittery moored to the quay with its cargo on the quayfront in Dungarvan. A group of men are gathered observing proceedings. The Susan Vittery was built in 1859 at Dartmouth, England. In 1953 it was wrecked 3 miles off, North of Tuskar, Wexford, enroute from Dublin to Dungarvan. It was the last schooner to engage in trade around Ireland. Many mementoes of her survive at the Brookland Pub in Ballinacurra, Kinsale. The proprietor of the Brookland Pub is the son of a former skipper.
